Welcome to QE2 World!
QE2 World is a new feature on the CunardQueens website which will take you into the fascinating world of QE2 World Cruises.
The QE2 made her first World Cruise in 1975 and completed 26 round the world trips before she was decommissioned in 2008. Each year Cunard had a theme for the world cruise, for example ‘The Route of the Explorers’ or ‘The Golden Route’ .
QE2 World pays tribute to these extraordinary travels and allows you to relive the dream of a lifetime and the experience of one of travel’s richest legacies on one of the greatest ocean liners of our times.
The feature will include itineraries, maps and descriptions of all 26 world cruises as well as films and photo albums, enriched with personal travel journals kindly made available by fellow Cunarders.
A Cunard World Cruise is the ultimate journey: It is a 3 month voyage that touches upon dozens of magical ports around the globe: Europe, Asia, Oceania, North and South America can be discovered at a leisurely pace, with many excursions and sight seeing tours interrupting daily onboard live.
Cunard Line has been offering World Cruises longer than most of the other cruise lines combined. The company invented the World Cruise in 1922 when the Laconia became the first ocean liner to complete the circumnavigation of the world. Since then there has been a succession of Cunard liners to carry on the tradition of an epic journey in style and luxury. Today, the Cunard World Cruise continues with both Queen Mary2 and Queen Victoria.
I found a fantastic summary of the Cunard World Cruise history on The Cunarders website, please click here to read.
The first QE2 World photo album is up in the member’s galleries:
To make QE2 World even more exciting we are appealing to the ‘World Cruisers’ among our audience: If you like to share your experience, videos, photos, stories or your own publications on the web, please contact email@example.com.
Come back tomorrow and embark with us on the Golden Route!
